Paul Axford's Web Site -- Maintaining our BMW 730i "big six"

Introduction

Our 1991 730i has now been sold as of January 2007 after accumulating 154,000 km. The car had been in New Zealand and owned by us since 1998 after being purchased as a used Japanese import from the local Hawkes Bay European car dealer, and of course it's a right-hand drive. I have been driving and maintaining the car only since Dec 2004 when it was at 139,000 km. Previously, the local BMW dealer performed all maintenance. This vehicle is BMW-coded as E32 (body) and M30B30 (engine.)

The 730i basically the same car as the more common 735i. This example has automatic climate control and electrically-adjustable cloth seats. The M30-series engine is noted for its longevity: 400 - 500,000 km is not uncommon.
